Andrea Hemmer is one of the most exciting, successful, and intellectual new leadership faces emerging in the Salon and Beauty Industry. In 2008, just as the economy crashed, she opened the Boise location of Lunatic Fringe. The salon thrived because of Andrea’s deep curiosity and thoughtful study of neuroscience related to human behavior. What she discovered was the success of the salon hinged on the emotional intelligence of the leadership as much as it did on the bottom line. As a Conversational Intelligence® Certified Practitioner, Andrea infused her training in her every day interactions with her stylists. This thoughtful study of those around her helped Andrea learn what actions on her part strengthened the culture of the workplace, and the individuals as well. It was her commitment to open communication that made the largest impact on the salon. Andrea started each work day at the salon the same way, with a Daily Huddle. Coming together as a team each morning and setting intentions for the day allowed everyone to be on the same page and started off the day in a reaffirming way. The huddles went so well Andrea decided to create a longer monthly version and one-on-one versions using the same theory.
The ultimate test of Andrea’s neuroscience research and practice came merely a decade into starting Lunatic Fridge. In spring 2020, in the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lunatic Fringe had to close its doors for 53 days. Remarkably, every single stylist came back when the doors reopened. They maintained their culture and commitment through an ongoing crisis because of the systems of communication Andrea created.
Andrea now focuses on support leaders on how to implement her communication tools and systems in their own environment. Her program centers on building a foundation of self-awareness, mindfulness, and inner evaluation to have the ability to adapt and pivot through rapid change. Andrea’s gift for mentorship and her unique blending of neuroscience, mindfulness, and spirituality led her to create the groundbreaking program, WE SHOW UP.
WE SHOW UP is a human-centered program combining neuroscience and mindful awareness that helps leaders and professionals meet and exceed their goals. WE SHOW UP centers on building strength from within a work environment, setting high group standards, and believing you are stronger than your excuses. Andrea has developed a set of communication systems and tools successfully tested in the most extreme circumstances. Her passion is to share the tools she has created and support you to become the best version of yourself.
